After a grueling journey, Petra finds herself at an All-Peoples camp, where people of all backgrounds come together to learn about each other’s cultures. Among the scaly, furry, gilled, and fish-tailed campers, Petra stands out as the only Mountain-dweller – or Rocky – in attendance, though there is another who attracts plenty of attention, too. Gabriel, with his enormous, feathered wings and flight suit that hides the true colour of his skin has more secrets than Petra could have ever imagined – secrets that will change her life forever.
Rocky Rulers is the first story in the Change the World series. Following a group of teenagers as they learn about themselves, their priorities, their abilities and their friends. There is some gun violence and explosions without graphic descriptions. Only bad guys use guns. There are consequences to the character’s actions and not everything ends on a happy beat, some events have a lasting effect. Racism, child neglect, inapproitate use of power and the downfall of a society are all addressed within this story. It was written to encourage discussions about our own morals, decisions and faith. A reader’s guide is available on the resource page as well as other worksheets and writing exercises.

Rocky Rulers
A fun read! Great engaging characters and a good story line that made it hard to put down. Thoughtful themes to make you think of how we judge others and our willingness to be open minded.
Loved the specific differences that each character had and it was fun to visualize what each character would look like.
